How does a SmartYard subscription work?
It's quite simple, really. You choose which subscription package you want, we do all the work in that package, you make low monthly payments, and everyone is happy.

What services do you offer?
We offer a variety of landscape services ranging from SmartMowing to SmartWatering to lawn fertilization to pest control and much more. If there is anything that affects the maintenance of your landscape, you name it and we can take care of it. Go to our subscription page to learn more about our packages.

What is the contract length?
The contract is good until you cancel it. If you do cancel, all you have to do is pay for any services that have been completed that you haven't paid for yet.

Why do you bill monthly?
Billing monthly makes landscaping services easier to budget for you. Rather than paying various amounts at various times throughout the year, you have one flat, affordable rate for a beautiful, smart yard.

How do you price your packages?
Our packages are priced on the services requested, size of yard, time, and materials. This price is then divided by 12 to give you a low, flat monthly rate.

How often will you be on my property?
Most landscape companies try to be on site as much as possible. This way they can say they were on site, but this doesn't mean they actually did any meaningful work. Because we work as smart and efficiently as possible, we don't waste time on your property doing nothing then bill you for it. We will make the appropriate amount of site visits to keep your yard in top condition. This allows you and your family to enjoy your time outside without having to wonder if the landscaper is randomly going to show up.

Who will be on my property?
We understand that nobody wants random strangers walking around on their property. Because of this, we send out a welcome packet to each of our clients introducing them to specific team members. Before anybody actually works on your property, one of these team members will introduce you to the specific crew members working on site. These crew members have been trained and are expected to treat you, your family, and your property with the utmost respect.

What is SmartMowing?
SmartMowing is a robotic lawn mowing service provided by SmartYard by combining robotic lawn mowers with SmartYard monitoring and maintenance. It is the smart way to mow a lawn.

A robotic lawn mower? Are you serious?
Yes, we're serious. Robotic lawn mowers are the real deal. Not only will they save you money, but they will also give you the healthiest, greenest, and most perfect lawn you've ever had.

How will a robot save me money?
Labor rates in the landscaping industry are sky-rocketing. Because of these ever increasing rates, the amount a landscaper charges to mow your lawn is going up as well. Robotic lawn mowers take the labor factor out of your mowing cost. Instead of paying a landscaper who may or may not show up to mow your lawn and do an okay job, a robotic lawn mower stays at your house 24/7, mows whenever you want it to, and gives you a higher quality cut. Oh, we forgot to mention that you won't have to fertilize as often either.

Is it really healthier for my lawn?
Absolutely. The more that's cut off of a blade of grass, the more it gets stressed and the unhealthier it is. With traditional landscapers, your lawn is cut about every 7 days. Robotic lawn mowers are constantly cutting your lawn to ensure it stays at the height you want. Because it is always cutting, the clippings are smaller and they are able to fall right back into the soil to serve as natural fertilizer. Also, traditional mowers don't actually cut the grass. They tear it. That is why you see the yellow tips. Because our robotic lawn mowers have razor sharp blades, they actually cut the grass. Robotic lawn mowers are also significantly lighter than traditional lawn mowers. This decrease in weight means your soil will not be as compacted, saving you from aerating as often. The result is a greener, fuller, healthier lawn.

It stays at my house? How does that work?
The mower comes with a base station that is set up at your house in a convenient spot that works for your landscape. A boundary wire is set up that does not allow the mower to get into areas that don't need to be mowed (like flowerbeds and water features).

What happens if it's stolen?
The mower will only work with the base station it is paired to. This makes the mower useless on any other property. But on the off chance that it is stolen, a loud, audible alarm goes off and a GPS tracker allows us to know exactly where it is.

Is it safe for kids and pets?
Pets typically leave robotic lawn mowers alone. The mower has sensors so that if it does run into a pet, it will stop, reverse, and go a different direction. Even if it does collide with a pet, the impact is minimal and unlikely to cause any harm.
The mower is also equipped with sensors that will turn off the blade if it is lifted up or turned over. The distance between the outer body of the mower and the blades is large enough to prevent hands and feet from touching the blades accidentally. However, for guaranteed safety, we recommend turning off the mower while small children are playing in the lawn.

What is the life expectancy?
This depends on the size of the lawn and the mowing schedule. The battery usually lasts about 5-7 years. After replacing batteries and with annual maintenance, robotic lawn mowers can last up to 20+ years.

I want a robot to mow my lawn, but I don't want to own it.
That's perfect. With our subscription packages, you don't have to own the robot. We will install it on your property and monitor and maintain the mower so it works flawlessly for years to come. We will also do the regular trimming and edging so your lawn looks perfect. These service packages are what turns your robotic lawn mower into a SmartMowing system.

I want to own the robotic lawn mower.
Awesome. We can also sell you the mower and go over how it all works. It is even compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT.

What happens if I don't like it?
If you don't enjoy having the best looking lawn you have ever had, you can cancel your contract at anytime and you simply pay for the cost of the installation. If you buy the robot, we offer a 60-day money back guarantee. However, we are confident you will fall so in love with your robotic lawn mower that you will actually want to give it a name.

Can I name my robot?
Yes. Although your robot is not a living creature, you can still name it. Our favorite names are Blade Runner, The Sod Father, Lawntimus Prime, Mowana, iMowbot, RoboChop, C3P Mow, and Yard2D2.

What is SmartWatering?
SmartWatering is an automated watering service provided by SmartYard to ensure your landscape gets the exact amount of water it needs, not too much, not too little.

How does it work?
SmartYard uses a smart irrigation controller that collects information from more than 270,000 sources to accurately determine the weather forecast at the location of your controller. We also do regular irrigation checks and an annual start up and winterization.

How much water will I save?
You can save up to 50% of your outdoor water usage with our SmartWatering system.

Is it healthier for my yard?
Yes. Not only will your landscape receive the proper amount of water it needs, but with proper watering techniques, your plants and lawn can become drought-resistant and grow stronger, healthier roots.

It stays at my house? How does that work?

Am I able to monitor the smart controller myself?

Can I get a rebate?
Yes. The smart irrigation controllers we use are EPA WaterSense certified. This means they are eligible for rebates.

Founded in 2018
We were founded in 2018 with the intention of disrupting and remaking a broken industry. Landscaping is a $100 billion industry and is estimated to hit $140 billion by 2024. Out of the Top 100 landscape companies, not one is a nationally recognized brand.

Within this industry, lawn care is especially broken. It is one of the most painful areas of life to maintain. Most companies accept this broken system and the widespread worker mistreatment that comes with it.

These factors led to the creation of SmartYard. We have had our substantial challenges, from basic administration to creating a company that can grow and scale.

Lawn Mowing - SmartYard mowing offers customers convenience and goes beyond simple grass cutting to help you increase the health of your lawn. Mowing service is the core element of any landscape maintenance program.

Bed Maintenance - We'll remove or spray for weeds in all of your landscape beds, including annoying weeds growing in and between your shrubs and flowers. A well-maintained flower or shrub bed is an essential complement to your whole landscape.
